We cleaned out a closet today. One closet, the one we use for "casual" clothes - t-shirts, sweatshirts, polos, things like that.
It had gotten so crowded and tight in there, we literally could not fit in even so much as one more hanger. Worse, it seemed that at least half the shirts were either unwearable (frayed, holes, etc), or some promotional tee that we refused to wear anymore. You know, either bar promotional giveaways or concert merch-table t's and the like. There were even some shirts we couldn't even remember how or why we came to own in the first place.
We knew for a while that we needed to sort them all out and get rid of the old to make way for the new, but we kept saying "Not now, we'll wait until we're retired and have the time."
We remembered that vow today and set at it. Before too long, we had two full garbage bags stuffed with shirts to bring to Goodwill, and enough room in our closet that we could finally look through what was hanging and see which shirt was which without having to first take it off the rod.
We threw out one full garbage bag full of wire hangers and dropped the two bags of unwanted shirts off at Goodwill, and by the time we got back home we were ready for a nap.
That this was the high point of our day shows that we're slowing down. If we don't find some new diversions soon, this might become the world's most boring blog.
