Day of the Smoking Plain, 71st of Summer, 525 M.E. (Atlas): War, pollution, and exploitation exact a terrible toll. The damage passes down through generations and their impact on our earth is inestimable.
Water Dissolves Water grieves the tragic loss of life in Gaza/Israel, Ukraine, and the thirty other wars and genocides raging on our planet at this moment. We cannot passively accept the pervasive suffering, sorrow, and death that are the inevitable results of war and call not only for an immediate cease fire, but an end of all war in our time.
We mourn the astonishing loss of biodiversity on this, our only planet, and the destruction of ecosystems, violence against nature, and mankind's role in accelerating change to the climate. We call for a recognition of the fragile beauty of our life-sustaining planet and demand sustainable policies that respect all living things and protect the quality of water, air, and land.
We stand opposed to the global rise of authoritarianism, the exploitation inherent in unchecked, late-stage capitalism, and loss of democratic systems. We uphold the self-evident truth that all people are equal and are entitled to shelter, food, health care, community, freedom, self-determination, and self-expression.
For the sake of all living at this time and for those that are yet to be born, we must maintain our sanity, practice empathy, and uphold basic humanity.
