Today is the day for devotion to the Buddha, the dharma, and the sangha, for they are said to purify the hells, the worlds of hungry ghosts, and the worlds of animals.
On this day in 1956, Don Larson pitched the only perfect game in the history of the World Series. No hits, no walks, no one on base. It was Game Five, Brooklyn Dodgers versus the damn Yankees. The damn Yankees won, 2-0.
Last Tuesday night, the Boston Red Sox beat the damn Yankees in the American League Wild Card playoff, 6-2, ending their season. Last night, the Sox lost Game 1 of the American League Division Series, 5-0, to the Tampa Bay Rays, and play then again tonight in Game 2. First pitch is in just a few minutes, so I've got to go.
We'll talk tomorrow.
