Givers
Doug Fir Lounge, MFNW. This is party music. Several of this Lafayette, Louisiana band's songs managed to surface on my iPod, but their studio pop songs ("In Light," for example) don't even begin to suggest how exuberant and lively Givers are on stage. The band is jointly fronted by vocalist and percussionist Tiffany Lamson, who also plays some ukulele, and vocalist and guitarist Taylor Guarisco, who clowns and mugs on stage and seems to be having a great time. The band throws themselves into every song with abandon, brought a rapper friend on stage for one song, had the keyboardist play flute on another, and shared a great time with the audience. If you weren't dancing along, you should check yourself for a pulse.
