It's been a busy couple of weeks, and the upcoming weeks don't look any less hectic. My morning sitting practice, unfortunately, has been the victim of this business (busy-ness).

Last week's excuse was the jury duty - I either had to be at the Courthouse too early to attend the morning sit, or so late that I wanted to take advantage of the extra sleeping time. I did get to the zendo Monday morning, but a busy work schedule this week kept me from sitting in the morning the other days.

Or at least that's my alibi. Habits are hard to break, and my habit is to sleep late. I had just about got myself into an early-morning groove, but once that new pattern was broken, it seems I fell right back into my old routine. I ought to try harder to get back to rising early, but I will be out of town at least two days next week, and probably exhausted by the time I get back.

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

My five year old is my alarm clock. He wakes up with the sun, but he wakes up happy, so I do, too. Hope all is well and you have a great weekend. It's snowing here.
