Shokai: I am not entirely sure why this quote is pushing my buttons and I don't mean to make work of your blogging but....
For life to make sense it needs a purpose? How could one determine if this is so? One of the ways in which I am twisted is that when an interpretation is beyond certain proof, I go on guard against wishfulness. I think of that as an assumption, a projection of human thought onto things that are , all at the same time, beneath, above, inside and beyond human thought. People crave purpose but I happen not to consider it necessary for simpling being. And yes, language being the vehicle of at least our conscious thought, we spin out a web of purpose with our words and hope the butterfly will get caught there for us to wonder at it.
I should shut up but am I curious as to context. Is the life considered here the life of a thinking individual, or is it life in general, the collective of all that reproduce or some subset thereof?
