Of course, essential to any plan for retirement is access to high-speed internet and a reliable computer. Despite the picture above, our wi-fi is actually fine, but last night, after finally realizing that we can actually afford to just walk away from it all and live off of our savings, that there's nothing holding us back from retirement other than our own fear of the unknown and acceptance of our obsolescence, our laptop started acting up and for some reason the "3" key, the F2, and the F3 buttons all stopped working. If you're wondering how we managed to type "3" and "F3" up above without a working 3 key, may we remind you of the miracle of copy/paste from other documents?
We looked on line for all the fixes we could find (re-boot, compressed air, pry off the key and see if there's something under it, etc.), but none of them worked, so we took the laptop to our local repair shop this morning. They can "fix" it (actually replace the entire keyboard - we don't consider "replacement" to be "fixing," but whatever), but will have to keep the laptop overnight in the shop for a few days. Since we'll be out of town this weekend anyway, we said let's wait until then to drop it off. They said fine.
Here's our question: as long as the laptop is in the shop and they'll be opening it up and fiddling around inside anyway, would it be a good idea to get them to replace/upgrade the video card as long as they're in there? You know, for a better gaming experience. Right now, we're running an Nvidia GeForce 940M, which is adequate, but should we install a bad-ass GeForce GTX 1080 TI (you know that it's more powerful because it has more letters and higher numbers in its name than the 940M). And if we did that, would be need a bigger, better, badder processor to run the card?
We don't know - we're old boomers thinking about retirement. We need a millennial to weigh in and advise us on this issue.

Are you using Onyx down the road from you? If you are, I’d ask them and trust their answer. They are the best imho.
Yup, Onyx. Used them before and they're pretty good.
Second commercial endorsement this week (after DW Campbell Goodyear). I should be getting paid for this!
