Day of the Bruise, 53rd Day of Autumn, 526 M.E. (Deneb): Day of the Bruise appropriately following Day of the Fall in keeping with old Angus MacLise's original sequence of names.
After all of the information overload I experienced yesterday at the cardiologist, I realized today that it's still not apparent to me if I can resume my alternating day walks or not. It's been 23 days since I've walked more than a John Adams, 25 since a J Quincy Adams. And mind-and-body being one, no alternating-day walks has meant no sitting meditation on the days in between.
Cabin fever: I've fallen into a lethargy, a state almost approximating anhedonia. I'm not (yet) standing around staring vacantly into space (not that there's anything wrong with that), but walking and sitting had filled a sizable portion of my afternoons. Now, the morning routine of staring at screens - phone screens and computer screens - and the evening routine of gaming and television - which actually are just larger screens at which to stare - have increased in duration to fill the midday void.
I need to start walking again to reengage my body into my life. Move your ass and your mind will follow, as they say. But one skill I've perfected in the last three weeks of inertia is procrastination, and I guess I probably shouldn't start walking again until I consult with the doctors, and since the weekend's here and I shouldn't expect to hear anything from them for another three days, I may as well resign myself to just continuing to loiter here around the house until I can get an answer.
