Day of the Animal Mind, 30th of Autumn, 525 M.E. (Castor): Look, I don't mean to sound like that guy, but why in the name of tap-dancing Christ should I care that Giorgio Armani is dead? Privileged white dude had a life of wealth and luxury, and now he's dead. BFD. As you can probably imagine, I care even less about Anna Wintour stepping down at Vogue.
Fascist police are patrolling the streets of our capital and the Stable Genius is threatening to send his goon squads to Chicago and Boston next. Your town, too, eventually. His administration's dismantling our health care system, our environmental protections, and our educational system. They're wrecking the economy and alienating our allies, all in the name of tax breaks for the ultra, ultra wealthy, people like, oh I don't know, Giorgio Armani and Anna Wintour.
I missed one question in today's NY Times news quiz, and that was the specific job title of Wintour's replacement at Vogue. TBH, I'm actually kind of proud that I didn't know.
A tropical wave travelling over the Atlantic has a high probability of developing into a hurricane over the next week. It's tracking further to the south than the previous storms this season and shows a high likelihood of entering the Caribbean. It's still too early to tell where and if it will make landfall, but I'm keeping an eye on this one.
If I seem even grumpier than even my usual curmudgeonly self today, it's because I spent almost three hours yesterday watching RFK Jr.'s testimony to Congress. Earlier this week, I watched the press conference of Epstein abuse survivors.
These wealthy white men (RFK, Jr. and Epstein) are privilege incarnate. During his testimony, Kennedy was full of rage, anger and indignity over having his opinions questions. He seethed with anger, barking at and insulting the Senators. Which I'm fine with, actually - there's some Senators I'd be glad to bark at - but it was conduct unbefitting a Cabinet member and the head of HHS and the CDC. His conspiratorial mindset seems to be that big pharma has co-opted and corrupted everything, and doctors, researchers, politicians, regulators, and the entire health-care industry is so greedy and so corrupt they'll lie and gladly watch the whole world's population succumb to sickness and disease in order to keep getting their kickbacks. Only he and his hand-picked allies can see the truth and are just trying to save us, from Big Pharma and from ourselves. And if you disagree with that, or even dare to question it, you're on the dole or you're stupid, or at least badly uninformed.
RFK Jr. should either resign or be fired immediately, but that's not going to happen any time soon.
