If things feel a bit unsettled these days, it may be due to the unprecedented treachery and perfidy of former president Trump, because of changes in the U.S. economy, because of turmoil brought on by climate change, because of recent outbreaks of malaria and leprosy in Florida, because of the breakup and reorganization of the traditional college football conferences (Stanford to the Atlantic Coast Conference?), and because of the global power realignment initiated by Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
