Karma

Today is the day of the sense organs, for with them we can practice the right way.  There are only 60 more days left to 2021, so don't spend your time in vain.

Earlier this evening, there was an online meeting of the Atlanta Beltline and its partners with the community.  The latest plan of the Beltline includes bringing the popular multi-use walking-jogging-biking-etc. trail right across the street from my home, displacing the wooded nature preserve currently on the other side of the street.  While that would be bad for me, other neighbors have it even worse - the trail would literally cut some neighbors off from street access altogether.  They would either have to drive across a busy multi-use trail every time they entered or exited their homes, or be provided some new way to get to and from their homes.

I know this sounds like NIMBYism, and I'd probably be opposed even if it were a more rational scheme, but a trail that bisects a residential neighborhood, destroys a nature preserve, and cuts people's homes off from the street - there's got to be a better way, amirite?

Years ago (2005-2010), I was very actively involved in (mostly negative) community response to the Beltline, and now a decade later, they're running the thing almost literally through my front yard.
