Music is a direct expression of the buddha-dharma.
If words can be an expression of the buddha-dharma, if the sounds of a mountain brook or an autumn breeze can be an expression of the buddha-dharma, if the sound of a tile striking bamboo can be an expression of the buddha-dharma, then music, too, must be an expression of the buddha-dharma.
And if any music can be a direct expression of the buddha-dharma, then all music must be a direct expression of the buddha-dharma. Without exception.
