Quadron and YACHT

One of the great things about attending a multi-day festival like Bumbershoot is waking up in the morning, a little sore and a little tired, but with a head full of great music, and realizing that you get to do it all over again today.

Above is a video of the band Quadron covering the so-called King of Pop (and paying a little tribute toward the end). In addition to Quadron, today we get Motopony, Lemolo, the outstanding Sharon Van Etten (whom I saw at The Earl last year), Saratoga Springs' Phantogram, and a band called YACHT (Young Americans Challenging High Technology).

YACHT consist of Jona Bechtolt and Claire Evans of Marfa, Texas and Portland, Oregon.  In concert, they use elaborate Powerpoint presentations and employ lots of triangles. They're Devo meets Talking Heads.  Here's a video YACHT shot of their song Dystopia playing on a record player. There's something faintly post-modern in that.

YACHT claims to be a belief system as well as a business and a band. According to their bio: "All people are welcome to become members of YACHT. Accordingly, YACHT is what YACHT is when YACHT is standing before you.”  That sounds sort of zen - I can work with that.

For those of you keeping score at home, today's the last of Bumbershoot and of my Seattle adventure.  I have lots of pictures I may get round to posting when I get back (or not, you never know about these things). The weather has been outstanding - 70s and 80s all weekend, and not a cloud in the sky.
