Pickwick
Back to the Fir. . . I heard Pickwick for the very first time back at Bumbershoot just last week, and was sufficiently impressed with their joyous, soulful sound to see them again at MFNW at the Doug Fir tonight. If anything, their sound and energy were even more uplifting than the Toyota mini-set that I saw. Their singer channels Jackie Wilson, and has a great 1960's-era Bob Dylan 'do. His backing band, an septet, is terrific. Bonus points: seeing songwriter Damian Jurado in the audience, and congratulating him on his great set at the Bunk Bar.
