Handsome Furs

Branx, MFNW. Over the course of the evening, the cavernous Branx filled to capacity, and the temperatures inside soared. By the time husband-and-wife duo Handsome Furs took the stage, the previously cool and empty club was hot and crowded. Handsome Furs play interesting rock songs without a backing band by using a lot of electronics and some guitar. The attractive couple have a lot of on-stage sex appeal, but their focus seems to be less on themselves and more on their mutual exploration of the world around them. Alexei claimed the Branx crowd was the largest for which they ever played, and they both seemed delighted to be performing for a wildly supportive hometown audience. They whipped the crowd into a frenzy, and kept the energy level high. Like the performers on stage and most of the crowd, I was soaked with sweat by the time I left.
