According to the morning news shows, The forecast for Savannah was to be the hottest day of an already very hot year. With the humidity, heat index values of 105° (40.5° C) to 111° (43.9° C) were expected in the afternoon and early evening. Returning home, temperatures in Macon, Georgia were still 100° (37.8° C) at 6:30 pm.
