The Dalai Lama has said, "Of the ten virtuous acts spoken of in Buddhism, four are verbal: do not lie, defame others, speak offensive words, or engage in frivolous conversation."
Shantideva adds, "When one intends to move or speak, one should first examine one's own mind and then act appropriately with composure . . . Words should be coherent and controlled, clear and pleasant, and should be spoken in a calm and gentle voice; they should express neither desire nor hatred."
To this, I add . . . "Yo!"
